I take the stairs slowly, taking precaution not to
enrage my left leg. After a while, I make it to the first floor. The door hangs
off its hinges, and as I push it aside, it falls over. The sound of the door
echoes through the hospital. The resonance rattles my skull, and I stand there
for a bit, taking all this in. I shake it off, and enter the reception area.
It’s empty; half drunken coffees reside on desks, and a box of Timbits rest on
one of the wheelchairs. I hesitate, and then walk towards it. Even after large
amounts of time, they didn’t taste bad.
After the donuts, I notice the exit. Taking a deep
breath, preparing myself for whatever was out there, I walk outside.
